Grant County Regional Airport is owned and operated by Grant County. It encompasses
approximately 335 acres. The two paved runways are rated at 12,500 with limited use at
21,000 pounds. (W&H Pacific file #39991-2001) A GPS instrument approach, with 600'
minimums, is supplemented by a fully automated weather observation system (AWOS III).
The lighting system utilizes variable intensity runway lights and high intensity strobes. It is
the only public airport with fuel in Grant County and provides both Jet A and Avgas. There
are 13 private hangars, a county hangar, a terminal building, and a USFS Helibase at the
airport. The airport has one full time manager and several part time employees that enable
the airport to be staffed 6 days a week, 8 hours/dayin the winter and 7/days/week 12 hours
in the summer. The airport itself is never closed except for snow plowing. Leases, commercial
and private, are for 40 years, renewable and are currently priced at $.11/sq.ft/year. Two sites,
each with 200' parking apron frontage are available. City water/sewer, power and phone lines
are within approximately 100 feet of the sites. The airport is located within the Urban Growth
Boundary of the City of John Day and is designated as part of an Economic Enterprise Zone
that confers specific tax benefits on qualified businesses. The airport has truck access to
highway 26 and an adjacent industrial park. |
